Nazi Winterhilfswerk Door Plaque

Flag_of_the_NSDAP_(1920–1945).svgThis is a donation plaque for 1934 for the Nazi social organization, the Winterhilfswerk (literally “winter help work”). This was an annual drive to help charitable work. Since the collector jobs were steered toward unemployed “old fighters” and they could keep 25% of what they collected much of this money was diverted into private pockets and beer halls. These plaques were intended to be nailed to the door of those who gave in order to shame those who did not.
