Kiwi Medals

This is the E39 Egg Grenade. Manufactured right through the war but almost unknown in popular media, this grenade was typically fused to 4 seconds. The blue colour of the fuse indicates the standard 4 second fuse is fitted.

I have 3 of these and I am going to illustrate them all here. Two of them are the later ringed version, designed to be hung off webbing or belts. The other is the earlier non-ringed kind. One of my E39’s is in pretty bad condition as it’s a rough ground dug example but I keep it because it has character.
